Hip Hop News Alert! Canadian born rapper Brooklyn, from the APCMA award winning group Winnepeg's Most, on the Heatbag label, was kicked off a plane or something. This is disheartening news to all of us, so let's just slow down and try to answer the most important questions first.
1. Does Canada really have hip hop? No. Absolutely not.
2. Have you ever heard any music from Winnipeg's Most? No. Absolutely not.
3. Where is Winnipeg? In the Canadian Prairie, Duh.
4. Why is the guy named Brooklyn? That's what I want to know. We stand firmly behind the idea that hip hop from all around the world is trash, that is except for a little tiny bit of North American hip hop. We just assumed that you were smart enough to know that Canadian music is awful and does not count as North American Hip Hop, it might be noise organized like hip hop, but it's still trash. This guy reinforces that theory, why not represent where you're from instead of assuming the name of a borough of NY? Quit faking. Call yourself "MC Maple Syrup" or "Lil Hockey" or "Affluent Guy"? Something Canadian! Whatever. Represent yourself, not something a thousand miles away in a different country.
5. What is this APCMA award? Listen, if you're in hip hop and you win a major industry award (or whatever this is) we expect you to act like Kanye West or ODB. Disrespect the whole system right in front of them, don't show it off like a trophy. Nelly does that. Your award is dumb.
6. How did they get signed to Heatbag records? Ha ahahhaha that's definitely not a real record company! They made it all up! It's just something that they say in Canada to sound legit.
7. So what is this important breaking news? Oh yeah! Well here is the story (hold on to your hat, I'll highlight some of the important stuff):

Rapper busted after bizarre plane brawl

An award-winning Winnipeg rapper who appeared in a controversial photo with Premier Greg Selinger was scheduled to appear in bail court Tuesday after getting busted in a bizarre brawl on a flight from Montreal.
Jamie Lee Prefontaine, 26, was arrested Oct.4 during a dispute in which three passengers were ejected before takeoff on an Air Canada Jazz flight destined for Winnipeg.
“The conflict began when one of the two men sat on the armrest of a seat and broke his neighbour’s headphones,” Montreal police spokesman Dany Richer said in an earlier QMI interview.
A fight broke out and a flight attendant was unable to separate two passengers. Two pilots were finally able to bust it up and police were called to the plane, which was still at the gate.
The man allegedly tried to run away from officers in the airport but he was eventually placed in the police cruiser.
“He was agitated in the back of the car. He caused a bit of damage,” said Olivier Lapointe of the Montreal police.
It’s unclear if Prefontaine, also known as Brooklyn, was one of the men involved in the dispute over the headphones. He was traveling with two other men, police said, and the pair were also thrown off the flight, although they were not charged. Prefontaine faces several charges, including assault with a weapon, assaulting a peace officer, mischief and possession of a weapon, described by police as a chain he was wearing as a necklace.
Prefontaine’s hip-hop trio, Winnipeg’s Most, made headlines during the recent provincial election when a photo surfaced of the group posing with NDP Premier Greg Selinger. The rappers Winnipeg’s Most have rap sheets of an entirely different sort. Everyone in the trio has had brushes with the law, and two members are still facing charges, including allegations of drug dealing, assault and weapons possession.
The Opposition Tories blasted the photo, which shows Selinger holding a bandana — a hallmark of many street gangs. The cloth Selinger clutched was a promo item for Heatbag Records, the local label for Winnipeg’s Most.
At the time, Progressive Conservative leader Hugh McFadyen quipped: “Not only is Mr. Selinger soft on crime, he’s oblivious to it.”
The NDP defended the photo, noting Winnipeg’s Most had just received several honours at the Aboriginal Peoples Choice Music Awards and Selinger wouldn’t have known anything about the members, personally.
Okay, so this story made the news in Winnipeg. Hahahaha! So this is how I read this: A guy is sitting in a airplane and he has headphones, another guy sits on the headphones and breaks them. These guys start fighting, Brooklyn sees this and gets disorderly. The pilots intervene and kick all the troublemakers off the plane. The police are called. Someone runs away from them in the airport, then he gets arrested and then he ends up in the police car and keeps acting crazy. End. We don't know if any of the important things even happened to Brooklyn. All we do know is that Brooklyn probably used his necklace as a weapon and hit a
Let's see if we can find a picture of this chain which was used a weapon.
I bet it's the one on the right. The one that looks like a compass. Now I've been pretty hard on Brooklyn, and let's be serious, he was through an ordeal. I mean headphones were broken, pilots were involved. But the police hitting him with weapons charges for swinging around that necklace is ridiculous. I can see if it was something like that one giant Ghostface necklace, but that? Come on. I mean COME ON. That's whatever that is for you I guess. Huh!
Maybe the police were mad about that picture thing that the article brought up like a hundred times. You know, the outrage over NDP Premier Greg Selinger holding a bandana (the hallmark of street gangs). Whoever NDP Premier Greg Selinger is. I have no idea what NDP is, I don't know what being a Premier of that means, and I don't like the name Greg. So that might be something important in Canada to the educated, but to me it's irrelevant. But I guess we should check out the picture since it enraged the peace officers to such levels:
