U-God's Resume #65, "Lean Like Me"

--Official Stats--
Artists: The Hillside Scramblers
Song: "Lean Like Me"
Producer: Leatha Face
Album: UGODZ-ILLA Presents The Hillside Scramblers
Release Date: March 16, 2004

I guess this is U-God solo with Leatha Face producing. Those guys are inseperable. SO FUN.

"Lean Like Me"

Well that was a surprise. I liked this one...kind of. Leatha Face delivered a pretty dope beat. I mean, everybody knows that this shit ain't getting play on the radio, so Leatha Face just embraced that and did things his way. He made a good enough track that isn't an automatic skip. Nice. He's got change ups, breakdowns, and he handles U pretty well. So the whole shit turned out good (not great). To add to the okayness, U-God delivers good verses and a bearable chorus. Why doesn't he sound like this on his solo shit? Or on full blown Wu shit?

Song sound crazy when you pump the drums
Slow down baby don't jump the gun
Straight from the slums to the VIP
It's ths gangsta scene, You can't lean like me

Now, even though Leatha Face impressed me with this beat, he still fucked up a few times on U's voice (some shitty echoing and emphasis). And that reminds me that this is amateur night and these guys probably threw this together in a dingy dirty "Silence of the Lambs" basement. This is pretty fucking good for that.

IN CONCLUSION: Not Bad. You're 1 for 3 on this album. Keep it up, Scramblers.

Track Score: 6/10
U-God’s Score: 6/10
Impact on Rep (+,-,=): None (nobody heard this)

Next Week: The Scramblers bring us "Destiny". Maybe it will be another good one. Why would you think otherwise?

About this series: “U-God’s Resume" is a series of posts which looks at each line of U-God’s entire career to determine if his status as ‘wack’ is justified (as labeled by internet morons). I think it is not. U-God is dope. We'll prove it. Leave it to the Tort Team.
