U-God's Resume #64, "Pain Inside"

--Official Stats--
Artists: The Hillside Scramblers
Song: "Pain Inside"
Producer: Six Mill
Album: UGODZ-ILLA Presents The Hillside Scramblers
Release Date: March 16, 2004

U-God and The Hillside Scramblers all together in one place! How lucky are we? Well, not all that lucky because the Scramblers aren't on here. Just U-God's bestie Leatha Face and Black Ice. I don't know anything about Black Ice, but U-God and Leatha Face have built a reputation around making shitty songs. So this should be a breeze of a review. Prediction: this song will suuuuccckkkk....

"Pain Inside"

Hey, hey, hey! That wasn't so bad! Hahaha! Just kidding. That was shit. Who the fuck made that beat? V-Nasty's producer? It's not that bad I guess...in fact it's okay. The bad part is the chorus...and U-God did the chorus.

"...That's why I try to keep my head up towards the sky
Sit back and watch, let me take you on a ride..."

Lousy.com, right? Did he take that from Coolio?

So that's a big minus. But U's first verse is okay, so that's a small plus. Black Ice and Leatha Face have pretty boring verses. The whole shit is mad normal status, which doesn't cut it. Where is the energy? Where are the punchlines? Where are the rhymes that make me say "OH SHIT!"? Not on this track.

IN CONCLUSION: This sounds like a normal filler song, except that it's positioned to kick off the album so it should have been takin' heads. Whatever this was taking, it wasn't heads. Maybe a dump (lol? 3rd grade). It was taking a lot of my energy not to skip to the next song though. Prediction of suckage: confirmed. Word 'em up, hot stepper.

Track Score: 5/10
U-God’s Score: 0/10
Impact on Rep (+,-,=): None (nobody heard this)

Next Week: More Scramblers...this time it's "Lean Like Me". Is that something about dieting? I'm sure it is. Church.

About this series: “U-God’s Resume" is a series of posts which looks at each line of U-God’s entire career to determine if his status as ‘wack’ is justified (as labeled by internet morons). I think it is not. U-God is dope. We'll prove it. Leave it to the Tort Team..
