#NP Dope Cuts 5 - Final Edition

HELL-O Chaps! We quit doing these #NP posts a long time ago for three reasons:

1. They are a lot of work.
2. They weren't being read.
3. Nobody cares.

But as I was looking through the archive I noticed that I had started the #NP post for January and abandoned it without finishing it. So I thought I'd post it up. So I'm not technically playing these songs now. But you best believe that I was playing them toward the end of last year.

Looking back, these are still good tracks. So good job to me! Keep up the good work! I will. Thank you. No problem.

Let's GO!

Astonish

Yo! This is a really good Cappadonna mixtape. Is Cappa getting better, or are my standards getting lower (hint: Cappa is killing it).

This intro is WAY TOO LONG, like two minutes too long, but the track is dope, like too dope...

Best & Worst of 2011

Today we're honoring ourselves! TORT TEAM! WHAT! TORT TEAM WHAT?

It's just your typical best of / worst of post. Nothing special. Also, note that this post is ineledgeble for "worst post" because it would easily win that honor since it is literally the worst post we've ever done.

Let's start with the winners:

Track of the year:
Freeway Feat. Tek “Two Kings”

Honorable Mention:
A-Y "Fall Back"

This was a difficult one, especially with Showbiz and A.G. coming out so strong at the end of the year. A-Y could have easily taken it all, but I'm a sucker for anything BCC...add to that the scratching of "the king" at then and nobody else really had a chance (Philly Stand UP).

Disagree or say "I think not" and get got.

Tort Team Best Post of 2011:

Member of the Wu-Tang Clan of the Year:

Cappadonna for his verse on I Don’t Care from Vast Aire’s "Ox 2010: A Street Odyssey"

Editor's Note: this may have been released in 2010 (hence the title) but it came out so late that it didn't make the play list until this year. This song and Vast Aire are dope 2011 'til infintiy.

Not to mention Cuban Link Kings and other stong work:

Cappadonna - Cuban Link Kings by Justis Hype

West Coast Roller of the Year:
Xzibit for “Highest Form of Understanding (H.F.O.U.)” feat. Trick Trick
We know this came out in 2010 but it’s still the best of 2011 - it will continue to be the best every year until someone comes close to topping it (stand up West Coast). Everyone here officially loves this track.

But we’re not known for our love. Let's get to what we love: HATIN'!

Biggest Wu-Mistake of the year:

Yo Meth, this is absolutely nothing like the St. Ides commercial or even the Super Gameboy commercial. YOU BLEW IT. Scroll up to that Xzibit video (or any of the tracks above) then reconsider your career choices.

Worst Song of the year overall:
LMFAO – Whatever this is.

Worst Mixtape of the year:
Traizey "Daily News Vol.1"

No contest.

Worst Tort Team Post:
OFWGKTA: TCOTCEC - We honestly just gave up.

Blap Blap. Life is good.

2011 Score 10/10

If you noticed that we list the name of the track then the artists name, it's becasue I could give a fuck about who makes the tracks. It's all about the sound quality, black belts.

#NP Dope Cuts 2

Welcome back! It's round 2 of #NP DOPE CUTS. IT'S TKO TIME...ON YOU! KAPLOW.

Okay, so I pretty much stopped the whole Twitter #NP nonsense because I want people to actually hear good hip hop and not just see some tweet flash past on their timeline or whatever. You know that you never read those and neither do I. Nobody clicks on the links. So here is a collection of the best hip hop that I've heard over the last few weeks that I want to share. There is just so much bad music out there that I had to do something. You know, make a difference. Hope. So check these out...the tracks aren't new, or ranked, or written up, they're just incredibly dope (and should be written up at some point)...

Most of Twitter

LET'S GO...

A-Y

We featured A-Y last month with his amazing song "Fall Back" (a.k.a. what I kept spinning while ya'll had "Otis" on repeat), this time we're endorsing the whole preview tape. It's dope, especially check "Potent", "Haiku" (incredible change up), "Therapy", "Fatigue", shoooooot the whole thing....

#NP HONORABLE MENTIONS
(The following tracks are good, but not classics, we can't recommend a purchase,
but we would recommend a listen.)

Beanie Sigel

The track is good but it runs long by about three minutes.

Beanie Sigel -B Boy Shit Clean by TheHumbleBeez

N.O.R.E. (feat. Cory Gunz)

This track follows in the tradition of CNN and N.O.R.E.
in that the beat is insane but the lyrical content is lacking.

#NP Dope Cuts 1

I'm doing something new. Instead of filling up Twitter with a bunch of #NP tags that nobody cares about and Twitter just doesn't need (it's full of them and they're mostly dumb like #NP KISS or some DUMB SHIT. Trust me I ain't #NPing KISS or anything like that ever. Maybe from my bodybag lol...like "#NP KISS & RIP ME!". Anyway, KISS IS THE WORST, THEY'RE LIKE ICP FAKERS AND ICP IS DEFINITELY THE WORST EVER). WTFlip was I talking about? I have no idea. OH YEAH THIS POST. I'm just going to post a few dope tracks (of the month I guess). I'm not going to write anything up or rank them or anything, they're all the best. I'll just post the track or the link, whatever. U KNOW  d d d o o o p p p e e e tracks. That's it. Dope. So to the people who keep asking "You don't even listen to rap and you hate everything what do you like?" This is my answer. I like this. I like all of this a lot and so should you...

DJ Absurd (feat. Armageddon, Trife Da God, & Blaq Poet)
