Vote Cappa 2012 (You Blew It): "Trials & Tribulations"

This blog officially endorses endorsed Cappadonna in the 2012 Presidential Election of the United States. Whatever, you blew it with whoever you voted for.

Look, kid. I was going to stop these stupid #voteCappa posts a long time ago, but I keep running into the guy's dope shit that I have to publish. We all know the election already happened and nothing changed (or will change). Are we better off with this rich guy than with that other rich guy? I doubt it (ask Dead Prez). But whatever. Real felons don't vote. Word. So this is the last call out to our failed Cappadonna for president 2012 campaign. #fuckTheVote and also #yourmom.

We're just going to put this whole thing behind us with an amazing track off of his most recent album. Enjoy...

Artist: Cappadonna
Producer: Unknown
Album: The Pillage
Release Date: November 2011

Cappa D. got it locked D. 4eva.

This track proves that Cappadonna is one of the dopest out the Clan right now. Plus, his fucking friends are hotter than your favorite MCs are. This track is classic.

Vote Cappa 2012 (You Blew It): "Fire"

I DEMAND A RECOUNT! LADIES AND GENTELMEN OF THE SUPREME COURT: DECIDE THIS ELECTION IN THE FAVOR OF SIR CAPPADONNA.

YES. We're still doing this shit for some reason. Maybe because this song is fucking dope? You think? Hello. OF COURSE THAT'S THE REASON, FLAPJACK.

Look, we did a series of posts where we said we wanted Cappadonna to be President of the United States then we posted up one of his good tracks. We all had a good laugh and heard some good music. But the truth is that I really wanted Cappa to be president. I'm not a fan of any president ever and at least Cappa has good slang. The fucking guy called himself "C-Dipper the Skipper", and that's simply the best. Here's another great one. Plus it's got Masta Killa, who is one of the best in the Clan. Forget Method Man, move on from that (unless you like children's candy and shit beats)...This is where it's at.

See. Energy that. Two pros doing it big over a top choice beat.

BEST & WORST of 2012

Exactly how we felt for 2012 (we're all Freeway).
Greetings from Knoxville, TN! HAHA just kidding, I would never go there. I assume it's the worst city of 2012! Are you getting an idea of what this is? It's a best and worst of 2012 list. Cool.

WAY BACK in January of 2012, when we published our terrible "Best & Worst" of 2011" entry, I realized that these year-end posts are hard and I should put more effort into them. Well, I didn't. In fact, I put less effort into this post then I did the 2011 post, and i barely put any effort into that at all (look I didn't even bother to capitalize that "i". Lazy). So here is our half-assed look at the best and worst on 2012.

Also, we're not exactly looking at hip hop in general for 2012. We're mainly looking at this lame blog. So fun.

BEST

2012 BEST RECORD RELEASE

Kreayshawn "Somethin' Bout Kreay"

It's hard to believe that when we came into 2012, none of us had any idea who Kreayshawn is was. Way back in January we tried to guess her identity just based on her name (we failed). Now, I don't have any problem with her gender or her race, but I have a major issue with her shit garbage music and her moronic friends. Anyway, her music is appaling and, as evidence of karma, she was rewarded with EXACTLY THE RIGHT AMOUNT OF ALBUM SALES: 4,000. HAHAH! I don't think we even talked about that on this blog friends, and it the best thing of the year! It's perfect. An idiot sells 4,000 records of bad music.

2012 BEST FIRST RESPONDER
Game "Uncle Otis", "Cough Up A Lung",

I'll spit the same 16 at your eulogy.

2012 BEST PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE OF THE YEAR
Cappadonna

It's no secret that none of us around here love voting, or elections, or presidential candidates, or rich people, or the system, or police, or wack rappers. I won't go into it, but we found a fantastic alternative to B.O. Bama and the other guy (who was that again?). CAPPADONNA. Who could be a better president? Answer that. Son wouldn't have even needed a VP. If we could turn back time we would rig the election and get our man in there. You fucks ruined the next four years.

2012 BEST STACK BOYS
$tack Boys (not Stack Boys)

Well, 2012 was the year we met both sets of Stack Boys, and decided which one should win the right to use the name "Stack Boys". Well, the preteens lost to some other teens, giving the $tack Boys the win. Nice job fellas. You still suck, but not as bad as some mallwhore rich kids.

2012 BEST NEW ARTIST
Krispy Kreme (or whatever he changes his name to)

I'm sure I'll regret this at some point. But fuck, kid. This guy released track after track and not only did they sucessfully mock all the shit that is wrong with rap, they're also kind of good. It's kind of genius and kind of annoying. Think about this, this track is at about the same quality as most new shit out there, the rhymes just seem more basic. These words alone locked him in a "best" slot: "haters want to be me". Genius and annoying. Gennoying.
-------------------------------------------------------------

WORST
2012 WORST COUNTRY ON EARTH (TIE)
AUSTRALIA & CANADA

CANADA AND AUSTRALIA FUCKING SUCK AT RAP. I've been in fights on Twitter about this. I've been in fights in person about this. I argued with your mom about this. But I stand by it becasue it's a fact. Plus the only people who disagree are from those awful countries.

The only thing I might add is that not only do these two countries SUCK hard at rapping, their citizens are too stupid to know better. This ensures that they'll never lose the crown of terrible rapper nests. Even to England, which is so close to being in a three way tie with these two heaps of shit.

2012 WORST STATE
WASHINGTON

No surprise here. Almost every time I found an embarassing rap song it was from the garbage disposal state of Washington. "Cram your egg shells in the drain along with the waste water and dinner scrapings and grind that shit to go to the sewer" - That's what I say about Washington. #peeattle #spoklame #holempia
"Pugetsoundia" is a
prime example.

Go Ka-Bang like Plow!

Runner(s) up: Idaho, Oregon

2012 WORST PEOPLE (TIE)
SCIENTISTS & COLLEGE PEOPLE

These educated people think they're so smart. Teaching us about medical crap, swearing at us about climate change, and restricting our right to smoke. F U, you're the worst. Don't rap anymore.

2012 WORST COLLABOBlondie "NO EXIT"

People, I know that this song is from 1999, but I heard it for the first time this year and it sucks megahard. I've even heard worse collaboration songs this year (French Montana), but this one is stuffed with people I respect, and I
was expecting a lot more.

YOU BLEW IT BLONDIE, MOBB DEEP, INSPECTAH DECK, and U-GOD....YOU LOWERED YOURSELF TO COOLIO'S LEVEL LIKE FIFTEEN YEARS AGO - AND YOU EARNED A SPOT ON THIS LIST.

2012 WORST SIDEKICK / PRODUCER
Leatha Face (Leatha Fase)

This guy singlehandedly ruined the end of 2012 for us with his production work on the Hillside Scramblers nightmare that we've been reviewing. His beats are junk. At least his beats from the early 90's are junk...who knows what he's doing today. Plus, as U-God's right hand man, we've heard way to many of his incompetent rhymes from a decade ago. Hopefully, we won't cross paths as many times with this guy in the one-tre as we did in the one-deuce.

2012 WORST MIXTAPE TITLE
"The Cakeover" by Cako

What a joke.

IN CONCLUSION: That's it! This list should be on the "Wost" side of 2012, no? hatever, I hope your 2013 is more like the Stack Boys and less like the $tack Boys.

Vote Cappa 2012 (You Blew It): "Slang Editorial"

This blog officially endorses endorsed Cappadonna in the 2012 Presidential Election of the United States. Whatever, you blew it with whoever you voted for.

Remember a long time age we had to vote for president, and we were like #fuckTheVote and you were like #OBAMA or #ROMNEY. And we we like #VoteCappa because we like the world famous Wu-Tang MC Cappadonna and we wanted to write about him during the election cycle and also we wanted to mock the whole thing. Well, guess what, Cappadonna didn't win. YOU CAUSED THIS. WHATEVER HAPPENS IS ON YOU.
Please, let me show you who you could have had leading the country...and might I remind you that Cappadonna wouldn't have needed a Vice President becasue he's that good.

Well, this is the first solo track off his first solo album. He jumped off this good. How did you jump off? (hint: weak)

Artist: Cappadonna
Producer: True Master
Album: The Pillage
Release Date: March 24. 1998

Killa Bees got it locked D. Got it locked D.

Fuck. I gotta hear the album version of this shit. No Edits...

"I come correct, 22 outfits and a mic check."

Word. Yo. I'll be honest, this beat is insane. Shout to True Master. This is top shelf shit. Choice Select. But I think the icing here is the chorus. It's genius:

My slang is editorial
explicit material
Breiefcase, yo
Live in stereo flow
Feel me, Donna Realty
Set the black people free
Killa Bees got the best stee
Killa Bees got it locked D
Got it locked D

But yo, the verses are kind of weak on this one. But don't think about that! There are still some crazy lines. Mad creative. This is a good track...

Vote Cappa 2012 (You Blew It): "Put God First"

This blog officially endorses endorsed Cappadonna in the 2012 Presidential Election of the United States. Whatever, you blew it.

Hey genius. I'm sure your either thrilled or devastated about the outcome of the election. Congrats to whoever won? I'm writing this in September, so I don't know who won. I'm going to make two safe bets: one, I don't care who won, and, two, Cappadonna probably didn't win. Now, we put MONTHS into our efforts to get Cappadonna elected, countless hours wasted. And WHY? Because slackers like you sat on the sidelines while the world burned. Here you had an opportunity to do something important and you BLEW IT. Nice job (sarcasm - you suck).

So, we're taking this opportunity to rub it in your face. THIS IS WHAT YOU'RE GOING TO MISS OUT ON FOR THE NEXT FOUR YEARS. This is a later track by the great Cappadonna, and it's an understated banger. Lyrically, it's top notch. It couldn't be any topper notch. No chance.

Artist: Cappadonna feat. Solomon Child & Inspectah Deck
Album: The Pilgramage
Release Date: November 15, 2011

That's new shit! This is how Cappadonna is rolling today. I don't know who produced that shit, but the production is presidential. It's one of the best beats you'll hear. Cappa's friends Solomon Child and Deck KILL IT DEAD. They just do a good job. Cappa brings his A game. And I'll go ahead and hand this song its crown based on the switch off between Cappa and Deck.

Cappa: "Get your money and turn savage, you fucking backstabbers:"
Deck: "Backstabbers, yo..."
Cappa: "Put God first, that's the only way to survive..."
Deck: "Cynthia's son, I'm all in, give me the gun / cuffed to a treadmill, you couldn't get me to run."

Deck doesn't relent for his whole shit. He just keeps stabbing.

Now let's take a second and look at the chorus:

"The average black man dies at the age of twenty five / put god first that's the only way to survive"

Simple. Conscious. Dope. Real shit. These are things that you don't like apparently, since you voted for the other guy.

Well, Cappa will still be around in four years, and he'll probably be dropping even hotter shit. That's the bright side. The question is this: will you have your mind right by 2016? Probably not.

Vote Cappa 2012: "97 Mentality"

This blog officially endorses Cappadonna for the 2012 Presidential Election of the United States. Cappa stays fat like Roseanne. Vote on that shit.

YO! WORD! Ladies and gentelmen: CAPPADONNA!

"YO! My devastatin' hot 97 mentality, keep me on point for my four digit salary. Heavy weight lyric, never lost one calorie, I'm soon to be seen, on a TV screen..."

This is it. The big moment. Who will you choose in the most important* election in our great nation's history? Will you vote for the rich guy? Or the other rich guy? I'm sure whoever you choose will make a huge difference! #votebig. Now, I'm sure you've guessed that our blog series supporting Cappadonna for president has been paid for by several super PACs, with a total value of $1.37billion. Full disclosure. The super PACs want you to vote for real hip hop, and we've decided to support the great CAPPADONNA.
*Everyone says that every election.

This song is his final appeal. His best work. His best foot forward. Please listen:

Artist: Cappadonna featuring Ghostface Killa
Song: "97 Mentality"
Producer: The RZA
Album: The Swarm
Release Date: July 21, 1998

Another Wu-Banger.

This song is clearly trying to duplicate the genius of "Winter Warz", and guess what: it does. It's not quite as impactful since it's basically a solo track and we already know what Cappadonna is capable of. Yet, Cappa basically directs lightening to strike twice. So, what was the genius of Winter Warz? Cappa drops a two minute verse and bodies every second of it. It came out of nowhere and hits like fast punches in boxing (whatever that is called, look it up).

"97 Mentality" is basically the same thing except for three major differences. One, I already mentioned: Cappa is basically solo here. Two: the beat is one of the best ever. Three: Ghost drops one of the best hooks ever at the end of the track.

To the year, born god / All the gods strike hard
Fast from the swine, hold down the boulevard
Father-U to C-Cypher, Start the revolution
Middle finger in the air for slang prostitution

Game over man. Try to keep that from getting stuck in your head. But aside from that, we have Cappadonna speaking on his platform:

"So what up with that kid? danger when I attack kid
Watch how the slang hits you, just like a bat kid
Form another pyramid, look how we slid
All over Park Hill, Stapleton politic
On a twenty dollar bill all in it together
You can't fuck with the stormy weather, yaknahmean"

I DO KNOW WHAT YOU MEAN. Case closed. If that doesn't hit you then maybe you should vote for one of the other losers. I know what I'm doing on voting day: filling in the bubble for Cappa, 2012. Bust the system right in the wrinkle.

Vote Cappa 2012: "Pistachio"

This blog officially endorses Cappadonna for the 2012 Presidential Election of the United States. Get out the Donna vote, stupid.

Well, this is it. Almost our last chance to get the message out there to you: Vote Cappadonna 2102. Forget those rich guys, we need a man of the people to lead us, a man of principle, a man of honor: Cappadonna. We know that he isn't even running for office, but we like him so much that it doesn't matter. So, to help support his platform of Cow Milking and Slang Prostitution, we're going to feature one of his songs every week from now until the election. We're just trying to get out the vote.

This song is the illest. It's from an album that I'm sure you skipped: Slang Prostitution, and it hits like a pile driver. Sure, it's got a lot of guest spots, but just think of that as Cappadonna introducing his cabinet? They all do a dope job. King Just is a Wu regular. Lounge Lo is Cappa's younger brother. And Mega Don (I thought that was one of Cappa's aliases) is from the Shaolin Soldiers (with King Just and everyone's favorite Letha Face!). What a team? But they come together well:

Artist: Cappadonna featuring King Just, Lounge Lo and Mega Don
Song: "Pistachio"
Album: Slang Prostiution
Release Date: January 27, 2009

This song is murder. A jewel in Cappa's crown.

While every verse is solid, and the beat is basically illy, the high point of this song is the chorus. And when I say "high point" I'm talking Mountain Everest. A fucking multiple way trade off talking some "what the streets like" shit. It's a chorus with a message I can really stand behind:

"We write lyrics that the streets like
We don't come with that bullshit
that y'all n****s thinkin' is right"

Word. Why are so many wack ass MCs coming with that bullshit. And why are so many of y'all thinking it's right. Shit. I'm glad Cappa is calling you out. That's why I'm voting for him.

Vote Cappa 2012: Born Divine "Peace God"

This blog officially endorses Cappadonna for the 2012 Presidential Election of the United States. Vote Cappa, stupid. The people's candidate.

THIS IS IT. The final countdown. You already know the deal: we think voting is the stupidest thing ever (unless you love rich people telling you what to do), so we've decided to support one of our favorite rappers: Cappadonna. We know that he isn't even running for office, but we like him so much that it doesn't matter. So, to help support his platform of Cow Milking and Slang Prostitution, we've been featuring one of his songs every week running up to the election. We're just trying to get out the vote. Today we're going to get a quick smack from Cappa and Born Divine. It's a newer short one. GET IT:

Artist: Cappadonna featuring Born Divine
Song: "Peace God"
Album: The Cappatilize Project

Release Date: January 27, 2009

UH! Park Hill Productions! FUCK, YOU CAN SLAM THAT PEACE GOD SHIT.

But hey, is this two songs? I thinks so. Peace God is just the first minute. But what a minute, right? A quick back and forth between two dope cats. What could be better? The whole shit is amped. Then boom, a switch up to another decent song ("One Night Love Affair"). Love Song!? Not as much my taste, but if you jump off with scratching I'll give you some slack. Plus the loop on both songs is stupid. The chorus on the second song is literally stupid, but I'll let it go since I kind of like it and it might get the ladies vote (I guess). You know, this is an odd connection, but that second song reminds me of a Pun beat, or maybe even a DJ Scribble beat. I don't know. Let me look into it...how about this one? Never mind. I got nothing and I'm not listening to this whole shit:

If you vote Cappa in, you can expect four years of this shit. Saying he'll deliver on thing (a dope track), and then giving you more than you expected (two dope tracks). Get your mind right. This is like a fresh pair of shoe with some new tags.

PEACE GOD SCORE 10/10

Vote Cappa 2012: "Somebody's Got To Go"

This blog officially endorses Cappadonna for the 2012 Presidential Election of the United States. Break that face in at the wrinkle.

It's 2012. Voting time. The Tortoise General Blog is officially going against the grain and shunning all of the major contenders (rich guy and other rich guy). Instead we're supporting Cappadonna for president. That's right. We know that he isn't even running for office, but we like him so much that it doesn't matter. So, to help support his platform of Cow Milking and Slang Prostitution, we're going to feature one of his songs every week from now until the election. We're just trying to get out the vote.

None of us here want to publish any more of this shit anymore. It sucks. It's hard writing about U-God week in and week out, but we do it to make some money. It's a living. Anyway, just when I was at my lowest point, we decided to publish Cappadonna's best songs. Listening to this shit picks me right up. This is good hip hop. This is presidential hip hop. Let's do it.

Today we've selected a choice cut off of Slang Prostitution, actually one of the best from a decent album. I hope you like it.

Artist: Cappadonna featuring Lounge Lo and Ghetto Philharmonic
Song: "Somebody's Got To Go"
Album: Slang Prostitution
Release Date: January 27, 2009

That beat, nah mean? It's "ananymous".

Fuck. I love this shit right from the intro talk:

I'll break that ni*** face in, right there (I'm listening)
Right there at the wrinkle (Who over there?)
Yeah, this is the body snatchers (Buddha, get him, man)
Invasion, slang gargoyles (Right right)
Ni***, we eat tracks for a living (Tell him again, Don)
The beats ananymous
Ya'll ni***s is taking up space, straight up
Snatching one of ya'll ni***s up from the background
Drag you over there, to one of the movie sets
The new movies that's out right now, with the fucking...
People on the juggle, straight up and down

What? The lyrics take off from there. This sounds like "Ironman" era Wu. Cappadonna's brother Lounge Lo is on there somewhere I guess, he's another decent MC who should be getting more press, but I think he's just on that opening crawl.

Anyway, this beat, by G-Clef, is very good. And one of the reasons that I think Cappadonna has gained so much credibility lately while his fellow clansmen flounder: he's connected with mad good underground producers who bring fire like this. Shit is dope.

Vote Cappa 2012: "Milk The Cow"

This blog officially endorses Cappadonna in the 2012 Presidential Election of the United States. Vote Cappa, stupid.

In the run-up to the big election* we've decided to make a mockery of everything and endorse one of our favorite rappers: Cappadonna. We know that he isn't even running for office, but we like him so much that it doesn't matter. So, to help support his platform of Cow Milking and Slang Prostitution, we're going to feature one of his songs every week from now until the election. We're just trying to get out the vote.
*Elections are wack, if you think that you're going to change anything by voting for any of the official wealthy nominees, then you're out of your mind.

Our track today establishes our candidate's early work. "Milk the Cow" was featured on his first (lackluster) solo album "The Pillage". It's a dope song and it demonstrates our candidate's commitment to the American farmer, the heartland, Park Hill, etc..

Artist: Cappadonna featuring Method Man
Song: "Milk The Cow"
Album: The Pillage

Release Date: March 24, 1998

Now, in the official roll call of the tracks, we call the representatives from cow milking:

Yo, new Cappadonna is about to exhale kid
Hold all the phone calls, stop all the mail

HEAR YE, HEAR YE! That just comes to the earpiece right. Salute to True Master for the devastating beat. And Cappadonna himself for having the courage to stand up and doing it milky, just like his mother told him to do. Respect.

Also, this is a fantastic video. One of the best. Classic. This comes from the same era as all the terrible Wu Tang Clan videos. How does Cappa come in and make a good video while the Clan was fucking with magic marker name plates in their videos? The answer: he's mad professional, and he'll bring that level of professionalism to the oval office.

I do have one thing to point out on a bit of a side note: Method Man is not his running mate. Donna runs alone. Method Man is barely on this song. He has like two lines and an outro. Was he paid for that? Check his tax returns or some shit! Was he promoted on the album cover as a guest? Because that wasn't really a guest, it was more of a pop-in. Let's check the rear cover...

Nope. No mention of Method Man. Good. See, our candidate established himself as the honest contender early on. If that doesn't earn your vote then I don't know what will.

So, VOTE CAPPA 2012 - He'll honestly represent who is guest starring on his songs.

IN CONCLUSION: In 2016, we're going to be chanting "4 More Years" as Cappa completes his first term. Ka-Plow!

#NP Dope Cuts 5 - Final Edition

HELL-O Chaps! We quit doing these #NP posts a long time ago for three reasons:

1. They are a lot of work.
2. They weren't being read.
3. Nobody cares.

But as I was looking through the archive I noticed that I had started the #NP post for January and abandoned it without finishing it. So I thought I'd post it up. So I'm not technically playing these songs now. But you best believe that I was playing them toward the end of last year.

Looking back, these are still good tracks. So good job to me! Keep up the good work! I will. Thank you. No problem.

Let's GO!

Astonish

Yo! This is a really good Cappadonna mixtape. Is Cappa getting better, or are my standards getting lower (hint: Cappa is killing it).

This intro is WAY TOO LONG, like two minutes too long, but the track is dope, like too dope...

U-God's Resume #49, "Careful (Click, Click)"

--Official Stats--
Artist: Wu-Tang Clan
Song: "Careful (Click, Click)"
Producer: RZA
Album: The W
Release Date: November 21, 2000

Can I live?

I was oblivious to Wu music when this album was released, despite being a major fan. Somehow I completely missed the first single from this album ("Protect Ya Neck (The Jump Off)") and then I was caught by surprise when I discovered "The W" had dropped.

On one hand, the bad hand, I was out of the loop. On the other hand, the good hand, I was able to listen to this album fresh without knowing which song the single was, or if a single had even come out. I honestly thought that this song would have been the first single. It's very good and has some element of mass appeal, not from pandering, but from natural Wu Charisma. Plus it has an interesting structure and a clever chorus. Rare shit!

This is the second song on the album, and the third (and final single) from this album. In an odd turn, all three singles from this album feature U-God, so we'll get to cover all the hits with this U-God series.

This track does come with a stacked roster, but there is no way this could have been the first single. Why? Even though it has almost the whole clan, it does not have the GZA, Method Man, or ODB, so the biggest hype men in the clan sat this one out (along with the best MC in the Clan), meaning the most marketable guys were mostly absent (but we do get Cappadonna). Oh, and I guess no Raekwon.

U-God appears twice on this track, he gets a verse and an interlude. So that's good! But he's sandwiched between Ghost and Deck. Uh-Oh, he better bring his A+ game. Private school A+, no public school shit. Oh, and I know that this song has a video, but I'm not going to watch it because it's so boring and I want to hear the real lyrics today.

"Careful (Click, Click)"

After a garbage beat intro, the real beat kicks in and the whole shit is ill. One of Wu's best.

RZA starts things off with a verse that would be tough for anyone to top. It's got mad energy, a reference to the eight point sun, and a mad team echos. Nice. U-God is next with a simple bridge:

Something in the slum went rum-pum-pum-pum
Something in the slum went rum-pum-pum-pum

Fine. Then we get a quick spit from Masta Killa, who is easily one of my favorite MCs in the group. He comes in strong and his flow is perfect on this beat. "It's been a long time son, since we bust gun." Word.

Cappadonna is next with a variation on U's bridge "Something in the street went BANG BANG...", which I guess is the chorus. Then he spits a verse. Before Wu's album Forever I would have been irritated with the Masta Killa / Cappadonna line up, as I thought Masta Killa was boring and Cappa was a bad rapper. However, now that I am older and wiser, this combo is perfect. Two of my favorite MCs spitting rough back to back.

The next verse goes to Ghost, who delivers his version of the chorus, and the shit is violent. It's a great counterpoint to Cappa's loud "BANG! BANG!"l Ghost's version is mad laid back: "Something in the hall went click, click....the boxcutter when click click." Sinister. His verse is dope, of course, then we have U.

These in the camera guys, cause, tear in your eye
Sweat on the hammer fly, ways, of the Samurai
Newsflash bulletin, Gods on the prowl
We full again, ruff men scuff Timbs
Sonic bionic lens, RZA console
Is it Bush or the Dole, front row of the superbowl
Black gold in my soul, on a hoe stroll
Don't go boy you on parole you don't know?

Topical polotical stuff from like twenty years ago aside, this is a dope verse. But it's only like twenty seconds long. Just like all the other verses on this track. That's about right for U, but for everyone else I want require a real verse. No shorts.

Someone in the back went, clack clack.
Money in stack, now bust ya gunz, clap clap.

That's Deck's variation on the chorus, and while it's not as nice as Ghost's, it's still good. And what a surprise, Deck's verse is the best of the song and he dominates everyone.

Made 'em throw they hands up / but then lay flat
Rat pack eat up the average alley cat
Prepare for the impact when we contact
Known to drop facts to crack your hardhats

After Deck repeats his version of the chorus, everyone runs through their special version, and U repeats his bridge and everything ends over a fancy guitar.

IN CONCLUSION: This is one of the Wu's best and U helps make it that way. Word 'em up! The variations on the chorus is brilliant and Deck wins best verse over very strong competition. Keep this up Wu Tang Clan!

CAREFUL (CLICK, CLICK) SCORE: 9/10

Next Week: "Gravel Pit" is the second single from The W, but it appears last on the album. So it marks U-God's last appearance on the album (except for the song "Clap", which was not a single).

About this series: “U-God’s Resume" is a series of posts which looks at each line of U-God’s entire career to determine if his status as ‘wack’ is justified (as labeled by internet morons). I think it is not. U-God is dope. We'll prove it. Leave it to the Tort Team.
